George William Durity

Mr. George William Durity, 83, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Wednesday evening, April 1, 2026, at the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro. He was the husband of the late Barbara Ann Durity.

Born July 10, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was a son of the late James H. Durity and Mildred Weitzell Durity. George served his country faithfully in the United States Navy, retiring after over 20 years of service. During his time in the Navy, he was mostly known as “Doc Durity”. He was a member of Faith Church Walterboro. George lived a life of service. He dearly loved his community and doing anything he could for the people in his community, whether it was serving at the local food bank or cutting their grass. He loved woodworking and made many different things and was known for his great sense of humor. One of his greatest joys was attending the VP-68 reunions with his former servicemen.

Surviving are: his son, Jeffrey Dean Durity of Salisbury, North Carolina; daughter, Theresa Green and her husband Keven of Salisbury, North Carolina; brother, James H. Durity of Hauston, Delaware; and sister, Marie Harper of Fort Pierce, Florida. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Lee Durity.

Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Friday morning, April 10, 2026, at Faith Church Walterboro, 858 Bells Highway, Walterboro. Interment with military honors will follow in the Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.

The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10 am in the church sanctuary.
