Mr. George "Buddy" Edward DeWitt, Sr., 70, of Early Branch, entered into eternal rest Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Hilton Head Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11 o'clock, Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel. Interment will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery.
Mr. DeWitt was born January 26, 1942 in Charleston and was a son of the late Hurley DeLoach and Carrie DeWitt DeLoach. He served his country in the Army National Guard and retired from Westinghouse after 32 years. He was an avid fisherman and loved farming. He was a loving father and grandfather.
Surviving are: his children, George DeWitt, Jr. of Varnville, Jennifer Sumler of Bluffton, Sonya Collins (John) of Crocketville and Sherry Bolling (Dan) of Savage, Minnesota; sister, Betty Hadwin of Varnville; grandchildren, Summer Rennow, Thomas Pope, III, Kyle Sumler, Brent Padgett, Dana DeWitt, Charity Aguirre, Amber Lanham, Candace Hampleton, Brandy DeWitt, Hallie Collins, Hayden Collins and Megan Collins; 20 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Carolyn Smith, Nell Crews, Herman Heape and Paul H. DeLoach.
