George Daniel Crosby Jr.

George Daniel Crosby, Jr.  , 62, of Hampton passed away January 3, 2021.  Mr. Crosby was born November 16, 1958 in Charleston, South Carolina, a son to the late Mr. George D. Crosby, Sr. and the late Mrs. Marie White Crosby.

George was known by many as “Hippy” or “Buckshot”.  He was a kind and loving man to his family, which he dearly worked hard and provided for; doing anything he could to be sure they were taken care of.  He was a man that never raised his voice.  For most of his life he worked in construction building houses and he could build a house with his eyes closed.  He enjoyed the outdoors, while fishing and catching shrimp were his greatest pleasures in his pass time.  He loved country music and his favorite country artist was George Jones.

He leaves behind his wife of twenty-three years, Donna Lynn Polk Crosby; his children, Daniel Crosby, Lacey Crosby, DeeDee Middleton, Mark L. Risher, Michelle Westbury, Kimmie Russell, Kelly Kaufman and Kerrian Luebke; a brother Delvin Crosby; sisters, Rose Hagy, Linda Sumler, Marlene Fail and Darlene Benton. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Crosby Polk.

Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Friday afternoon, January 8, 2021 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel.  Interment will follow in Grimes Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior the service from 12 o’clock until 2 o’clock.
