Gene Wynn

Mr. Gene Willard Wynn, Sr., 80, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Wednesday morning, August 25, 2021 at Colleton Medical Center.

Born June 29, 1941 in Ridgeland, he was the son of the late Jake Wynn and Lucy Smith Wynn.  He retired in 1996 as a Conductor for CSX Railroad.  He was a member of Canadys First Baptist Church.  Mr. Gene loved people and enjoyed being around others.  His family, faith and making sure others knew his testimony were very important to him.  He enjoyed being in the outdoors, traveling, and of course, trains.

Surviving are: his wife of 60 years, Linda Lee Wynn of Walterboro; children, Gene W. Wynn, Jr. and his wife Kelly of Walterboro and Sharon Wynn Hudson of Lexington; sister, Paula W. Hickman and her husband Stanley of Green Pond; grandchildren, Brittany Krause, Elisha Hudson Corrigan and her husband Kevin, Katie Hudson, Gene C. Wynn, and Kara Wynn; great grandchildren, Hanna Corrigan and Kyle Corrigan; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Wynn; and sister, Elaine Padgett.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to: Canadys First Baptist Church, care of Cheryl Pinillos, 699 Red Bank Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488; or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 255 North Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, Illinois 60601.

The Celebration of Life will be held 11 o'clock, Saturday morning, September 4, 2021 at Canadys First Baptist Church, 11383 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro.  Due to the health concerns because of the pandemic, we ask that everyone attending adhere to CDC guidelines and practice social distancing.  Face masks will be required.  If you are more comfortable in your car, the service will be broadcast on radio channel 88.7 FM.
