Gene Groves

Mr. Gene Junior Groves, 79, of Walterboro, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017, at his residence.  He was the husband of the Doris Ann Cook Groves.

Funeral services will be held 3 pm, Saturday, March 25, 2017 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel.  Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.

Born March 29, 1937 in Walterboro, he was a son of the late Edward Groves and Ruth Crosby Groves.  He was a member of Walterboro Church of God of Prophecy.  He enjoyed working and running the backhoe, enjoyed fishing, and especially loved going to church.

Surviving are: his children, Lawrence Groves and his wife Elaine, Tommy Groves, Jimmy Groves, Randy Groves, Sandra Groves Weitman, Bobby Groves, and Gary Groves; brothers, Harry Groves, Harold Groves, Richard Groves, Ralph Groves, and Ander Groves; sister, Mary Marinaro; grandchildren, Brandon Fleming and his wife Jenna, Christina Groves, Amanda Groves, Nicholas Groves, Beth Groves, Mark Groves and his wife Jessica, Jennifer Spires and her husband Carlton, Justin Groves, Kortney Groves, Randy Travis Groves, Jessica Brabham, Brittany Brabham, Crystal Weitman, Tony Weitman, Brandon Groves, bobby Dean Groves, and Tabitha Fleming and her husband Jarrod; great grandchildren, Kylie Fleming, Weston Fleming, Tyler Beach, Haylee Groves, Gabe Groves, Madisyn Brabham, Chole Varnadoe. Hunter Sineath, Nathan Breaker, Elana Maness, Robert Loudenslager, Noah Rourk, Abby DeLoach, and Bailey DeLoach; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie Groves and Charles Groves; brothers, Dan Groves, Howard Groves, and Sammie Groves; and a sister, Annie Ruth Eason.
