Mr. Gary Dale Salter, 71, of Summerville, entered into eternal rest Sunday, January 28, 2024, at the Veteran’s Victory House in Walterboro.
Born August 30, 1952, in Fort Stewart, Georgia, he was the son of the late Norman Spencer Salter and Betty Jean Chapman Salter. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He had a degree in Engineering. Mr. Salter loved being outside and enjoying the simplicities of life. He also liked to build things. In his younger years he built a small airplane with his brother and later in life he loved building things such as small wooden boats and chairs.
Surviving are: his children, Michelle Trotter and her husband Jack of Santee, Jerry Salter and his wife Eileen of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Adam Salter and his wife Jenny of Biloxi, Mississippi, Elisabeth Webb of Summerville and Samantha Broach and her husband Chris of Summerville; 12 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and brother, Glen Salter and his wife Karen. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Marcus Salter.
Funeral services will be held 12 o’clock, Monday afternoon, February 5, 2024, at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort.
