Mrs. Frieda Hilda Greene, 98, of Walterboro, entered into rest Wednesday evening, April 24, 2013, at the Oakwood Health Care Center in Walterboro under the care of United Hospice. She was the widow of Dr. Thomas Arnold Greene
Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at Cornelius Chapel Cemetery in Saltillo, Pennsylvania.
Born October 17, 1914, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Paul Bahnemann and the late Caroline Schellmanns Bahnemann. She was a member of Saint James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania and had locally attended with her family at their church, Saint Judes Episcopal Church in Walterboro. Mrs. Greene possessed a special love for animals, and through that love was a huge supporter of the SPCA. She also loved tending to her gardens, and will be fondly remembered for baking the best apple and cherry pies.
Surviving are: her son, Arnold Lewis Greene and his wife Bobbi of Walterboro; two grandchildren, David Greene and his wife Jo of Walterboro and Christine Greene Young and her husband Mike of Columbia; and three great grandchildren, Braden Young, Ryan Young, and Alex Gardner. There is a sister-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Greene of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania as well as several nieces and nephews that also survive.
The family wished to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of United Hospice as well as Oakwood Health Care Center for their love and compassion given to Mrs. Greene.
