Born November 21, 1954, in Walterboro, South Carolina, he was a son of the late William Frederick Stanley and the late Joan Walling Stanfield. Freddie worked a long and dedicated career at the former Westinghouse plant in Hampton where after over thirty years of service he retired as a finisher after the company transitioned to Nevemar. He was a member of Rice Patch Christian Church in Islandton and also, on many occasions attended Penial Baptist Church.

Freddie demonstrated a passion for life and a love for the great outdoors. His fondness for nature was evident in his enthusiasm for dove hunting and fishing, especially for crappie and catfish. A man of many talents, Freddie was an accomplished woodworker, known far and wide for his exceptional skill and attention to detail. Freddie's love for the land extended beyond his professional life, as he was also a passionate farmer that always shared his crops with everyone. He took great joy tending to his garden, nurturing it with the same care and precision that he applied to all aspects of his life. In his earlier years, he played football for Ruffin High School, displaying the same determination and teamwork that characterized his later endeavors. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Above all, he will be forever remembered for his unwavering faith which sustained him though all that he endured.
