Freddie Adams

Mr. Jay Freddie Adams, 80 of Walterboro, entered into rest Tuesday morning, May 4, 2021, at the Trident Medical Center in North Charleston.

Born August 2, 1940, in Colleton County, South Carolina he was a son of the late Jay G. Adams and the late Johnnie Gibson Adams.  Freddie served as a mechanic in the South Carolina National Guard and retired after twenty years of service.  He was no stranger to hard work and will always be remembered for his honest work ethic.  He was the founder of Hayco Farms and was the owner and operator of Freddie Adams Trucking.   He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Walterboro, where her served as a Deacon.

Surviving are: his wife of fifty-five years, Mrs. Eleanor Hiott Adams; two sons, Michael Jay Adams and his wife Angela of Walterboro and Philip Lee Adams of Walterboro; and three grandchildren, Devin Summer Adams (Bryan Martin), Aubrey Ann Adams, and Philip Lee Adams, II.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Tindall.

Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has suggested that memorials be made in his memory to:  Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital, 10 McClennan Banks Drive, Charleston, South Carolina 29425.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Saturday morning, May 8, 2021, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  The Reverend David Jackson officiating.  Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Churchyard, 7345 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro.
