Mr. Fred Daniel Sease, 87, of Ehrhardt, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at Pruitt Healthcare in Bamberg.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Friday, December 16, 2016 at Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church, Mount Pleasant Road, Ehrhardt. Interment will follow in Ehrhardt Cemetery.
Born September 16, 1929 in Colleton County, he was a son of the late D.A. Sease and Mary Rhoad Sease. He was a 1946 graduate of Ehrhardt High School and a 1951 graduate of Clemson University, where he received a B.S. in Agronomy and was a member of the Pershing Rifles. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during the Korean War as a First Lieutenant and received the Army Combat Infantry Badge.
Mr. Sease made his career in farming. He was a member of the Colleton-Bamberg Young Farmers group, the South Carolina Cattleman’s Association, as well as the Salkehatchie Cattleman’s Association. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, which led him to be the Charter President of the Savannah Creek Hunting Club.
Mr. Sease was a lifelong member of Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church. In addition to being a dedicated farmer, he was dedicated to his church and doing the Lords’ work. He was a Sunday School Superintendent for 40 years, served on the church council and was a former Sunday School Teacher. He was also a founding board member of Andrew Jackson Academy and Chairman of the school board.
Surviving are: his wife of 61 years, Helen Bellamy Sease of Ehrhardt; children, Doctor Mark Sease of Ehrhardt, Marsha Sease Patrick and her husband Doctor Bob Patrick of Eatonton, Georgia, and Kevin Sease and his wife Cheryl of Ehrhardt; and grandchildren, Jesse Patrick and his wife Brighton, Doctor Rachel P. Embree and her husband Josh, and Corey Sease. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Sease.
The family would like to especially thank David Hiers and Gay Ayer for all the care and support they have given Mr. Fred during his illness.
