Franklin Ward

Mr. Franklin Ward, 79, of Fairfax, entered into rest Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Harter Nursing Center of Fairfax following an extended illness. He was the husband of the late Marilyn Altman Ward.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, November 19, 2013, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Varnville. Interment will follow in Sandy Run Cemetery, Sandy Run Road, Hampton.

Mr. Ward was born April 30, 1933 in Hampton County, and was a son of the late James Ward and the late Isabella Mixon Ward. He was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church in Hampton. He will be fondly remembered for spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are: his daughter, Jean Ward Thomas and her husband, Len, of Fairfax; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. He is also survived by two sisters and one brother. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Ward Dyches; and three sons, Stanley “Punkin” Ward, Tony Franklin Ward, and Carl Wilson Freeman.
