Franklin Thompson

Mr. Franklin Delano Thompson, Sr., 86, of Round O, passed away Wednesday morning, July 26, 2023, at Hallmark Healthcare Center in Summerville.  He was the husband of the late Ruth White Thompson, to whom he was married 62 years.

Born September 29, 1936, in St. George, he was a son of the late Richard D. Thompson and Ellamae Langdale Thompson.  Mr. Thompson was a retired foreman for Mr. Herman Thompson Construction.  He was a faithful member of Maple Cane Baptist Church, where he was a member for over 50 years.  He served as a church Deacon, was a member of Men of Faith, and also worked on the building of the current sanctuary.  Mr. Thompson was an avid deer hunter.  He was President of Peniel Hunt Club, Vice President of Edisto Hunt Club, and was a member of Community Hunt Club in Elloree.  He was a devoted and faithful family man.

Surviving are: his sons, Frankie Thompson and his wife Desiree of Cottageville and Scott Thompson and his wife Tabby of Round O; grandchildren, Lindsie Thompson (Brett), Hunter Thompson, Tiffany Weatherford, Trey Weatherford (Mariah), Dakota Thompson, Layton Thompson (Trevor) Ella Thompson (Austin), Lillie Thompson, Seth Butcher, and Sheridan Dooley (Sara); great grandchildren, Wyatt, Waylon, Riley, Raelynn, Ellie, Kensley, Weston, and Isla; and a sister, Lila Thomas of Hanahan.  He was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Thompson; and siblings, Cooper Thompson, Carlisle Thompson, Bessie Thompson Vaughn, Bertie Mae Thompson Knight, and Durham Richard Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Maple Cane Baptist Church, Kitchen Fund, 21324 Augusta Highway, Cottageville, SC 29435.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock, Sunday afternoon, July 30, 2023, at Maple Cane Baptist Church, 21324 Augusta Highway, Cottageville.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
