EDISTO ISLAND " Mr. Franklin Eugene Roop, 82, of 46 Battery Park Road, Edisto Island, died Wednesday afternoon, June 4, 2008, at his residence under the care of Winyah Hospice.



Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Sunday afternoon, June 7, 2008, from Trinity Episcopal Church, 1589 Highway 174, Edisto Island, South Carolina with The Reverend Father Wey Camp and The Reverend Father Henry Cheves officiating.



Mr. Roop was born November 8, 1925 in Elwood, Indiana and was a son of the late Virgil Roop and the late Gladys Spears Roop. He graduated with honors from Indiana University where he received with Bachelor of Science. He served his country faithfully during the Korean Conflict with Army Counter Intelligence as a Corporal.



He was a faithful member of Trinity Episcopal Church on Edisto Island. He was a member of such civic organizations as the Exchange Club, where the served as the organizations secretary for twenty years. He was a dedicated member of the Edisto Community, where he graciously volunteered his time at Edisto Beach Elementary.



Surviving are: his wife Billie Jean Holliday Roop of Edisto Island; daughters, Lisa Lewis and her husband Tommy of Batesburg-Leesville and Sophia Sanders of Edisto Island; sister, Winnifred Hartley of Anderson, Indiana; and grandchildren, David Franklin Buckles, Mathew Leigh Buckles and his wife Meghann and Peter G. Sanders, Jr. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Eugene Roop.

Family and friends may call Saturday evening from 4 until 6 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Edisto Island.
