Islandton – Mr. Franklin L. Basler, 71, of Islandton, passed away Thursday evening, October 1, 2015, at the Roper Hospital in Charleston.
Mr. Basler was born September 9, 1944, in Wartburg, Tennessee, and was a son of the late Walter and Gertie Basler. He was passionate about his work in telecommunications, having retired from Sprint after 40 years of faithful service. Mr. Basler loved the Tennessee Vols and watching NASCAR.
Surviving are: his loving wife of 47 years, Barbara P. Basler of Islandton; a son, Christopher Basler of Islandton; a daughter, Sarah Basler of Islandton; three grandchildren, Christopher Basler of Islandton, Lexi Basler of Walterboro, and Emma Cline of Islandton; one brother, Lloyd (Lois) Basler of Monterey, Tennessee; four sisters, Reba (Kenneth) Cooper of Wartburg, Tennessee, Peggy (M.L.) Newberry of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Linda Boring of Louisville, Tennessee, and Johnnie Melton of Wartburg, Tennessee; special friends, Joann Hodges and Jimmy Tate; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Basler was predeceased by a sister, Eileen Davis.
