Mrs. Frances Hood Finigan, 79, of 1247 Peurifoy Road, Walterboro, entered into rest Tuesday morning, July 2, 2013, at her residence under the care of Amedysis Hospice. She was, for fifty-one years, the loving wife of the late MGySgt William Francis Finigan, United States Marine Corp (Ret.) at the time of his death in 2002.
Funeral services will be conducted 6 oclock Wednesday evening, July 3, 2013, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Ben Barnett and The Reverend Eric Bjork officiating. Interment will be held at 10 oclock Friday morning, July 5, 2013, in Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort.
The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony Wednesday evening until 8 oclock in the Harbiston Stateroom of the Mortuary.
Born April 21, 1934, a native of Dorchester, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Murray Hood and the late Minnie Lou Jeffers Hood. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in the Historic District of Walterboro and will be fondly remembered for her love of flowers and the talent she possessed in creating beautiful floral arrangements.
Surviving are: a son, Mr. Tom Finigan and his wife Lori of Walterboro; and two daughters, Mrs. Patty Knight and her husband Robert of Simpsonville and Mrs. Eileen McNulty of Varnville. There are four grandchildren, Kristen K. Gault and her husband Jeremy, Jessica C. McNulty, Thomas F. Finigan, Jr., and William F. Finigan, III; as well as three sisters, Jean Doyle of Summerville, Margaret Shider of Harleyville, and Emmadell Oltmann of Harleyville.
