Mrs. Frances Evelyn Brownlee Hiott Bailey, 83, widow of Bobby Milburn Bailey, entered into eternal rest after an extended illness on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at her home in Walterboro, under the care of Odyssey Health Care Hospice.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 o'clock, Tuesday morning, March 19, 2013, at Grace Advent Christian Church, 398 Mt. Carmel Rd., Walterboro. The Reverend Wayne Lucas officiating. Interment will follow at Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
Mrs. Bailey was born on January 1, 1930 in Charleston, SC and was a daughter of the late Maggie Blanche Canaday Brownlee and James St. Clair Brownlee. She was first married to the late Richard R. Hiott. She was a former member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in St. George, SC. She was a member of Chapter No. 147, Order of the Eastern Star in Walterboro. Mrs. Bailey worked at the Walterboro Dress Plant for over 30 years. During which time she was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and served as the Union Chair Lady for ten years.
She will be remembered for her love of her children, grandchildren, friends and all animals, especially cats. Mrs. Bailey is survived by one sister, Christine B. Martin of Walterboro, one brother, Allen Brownlee (Ella Mae) of St. George, three daughters; Catherine Hiott Elkins (Dean), Virginia Ginny Hiott Roessler (Dane), Vicki Hiott Syfrett (Billy), and one son, Richard Ricky G. Hiott (Mary), all of Walterboro; ten grandchildren, Teresa Orr (Larry), R. Dean Elkins, Jr. (Amanda), Ernest "Ernie" Hughes Jr., Jackie W. Martin, Kevin J. Hughes, Karen C. Hooten, Walter Dane Roessler, Jr. (Melissa), Denise R. Evans (Jim), John W. Syfrett (Robin), Thomas Tommy R. Shaw, Jr., R. Glenn Hiott, II (Janice) and Daniel Danny E. Hiott (Mandy); seventeen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one daughter, Rita Hiott Shaw, two brothers; Clyde and Roger Brownlee; and a sister Jackie Polland.
