Mr. Floyd Ellis Walling, Sr., 70, of the Rum Gully Community in Islandton, entered into his eternal rest Friday afternoon, September 28, 2012, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Monday morning, October 1, 2012, from Peniel Baptist Church, 37 Forks Road, Islandton. Interment will follow in the churchyard.
Born June 26, 1942, a native of Colleton County, he was the last surviving child of the late Harry and Janie Marie Proveaux Walling. He was an iron and construction worker having worked for the former Thurmond Pierce Construction Company and was a part of the building of the Williams Brice Stadium in Columbia. He was a member of Peniel Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and will always be remembered as a kindhearted friend who always had humor in every area of his life.
Surviving are: two sons, Floyd Ellis Bubba Walling, Jr. and his wife Patty of Walterboro and Marshall Jackson Walling and his wife Kim of Walterboro; a daughter, Rachel Walling Smith and her husband Mike of West Columbia; and a companion of many years, Pearl Yvonne Rentz. There are four grandsons and three step-grandchildren who also survive. He was preceded in death by four brothers, James Talbert Walling, Marshall Blondell Walling, David Franklin Walling, and Ralph Madison Walling, Sr.
