Mrs. Fannie Bowers Dopson, 78, of 16224 Sniders Highway, Islandton, died Friday evening, April 3, 2009, at the Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. She was married to the late Mr. Joe Harold Dopson, Sr.,



Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Tuesday afternoon, April 7, 2009, from the Adnah United Methodist Church, Islandton, with The Reverend David Cox officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.



Mrs. Dopson was born June 24, 1930, in Colleton County and was a daughter of the late John Hiers Bowers and the late Letha Catterton Bowers. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse from the former Colleton Regional Medical Center in Walterboro and was a longtime member of Adnah United Methodist Church where she was active with the United Methodist Women. She will be fondly recalled for her love of traveling and tending to her flowers as well as crocheting.



Surviving are: two sons, Joe Harold Dopson, Jr. and his wife Dollie of Yemassee and Andrew Dopson and his wife Junier Mae of Varnville; two daughters, Deborah Toa of Walterboro and Shelley Thomas and her husband Dickie of Allendale; and two brothers, Woodrow Bowers of Walterboro and Julian Bowers of Islandton. There are eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren that also survive. She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.



Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has suggested that memorials be directed in her memory to the charity of ones choice.
