Mr. Ewell Clinton Parnell, Jr., 75, of 16275 Bells Highway, Lodge, died Monday evening, October 27, 2008, at his residence.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Thursday afternoon, October 30, 2008, from the graveside at Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
Mr. Parnell was born September 3, 1933, in Colleton County and was a son of the late Ewell Clinton Parnell, Sr. and the late Ottie Fralix Parnell. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was of the Baptist Faith. He retired after twenty-eight years of service as a machinist with NAPA Auto Parts and then owned and operated Automotive Machine Shop in Lodge for fifteen years. Ewell was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, who will be remembered as well known and honest man.
Surviving are: his wife of fifty-six years, Mrs. Geraldine Kinard Parnell; a son, Dean Parnell and his wife Kathy of Lodge; two daughters, Brenda Gibson and her husband Eddie of Lodge and Jan Miller and her husband Jason of Lodge; a brother, Furman Parnell and his wife Jeanette of Lodge; and a sister, Madge Shaffer of Orville, California. There are six grandchildren, Roger Alan Miller, Karen Jones, Heather Stone, Christopher Gibson, Kim Parnell and Jason Parnell; as well as five great grandchildren that also survive. He was preceded in death by two sons, Roger Dale Parnell and Dennis Clinton Parnell.
