Mrs. Evelyn Smith Simmons, 79, of Walterboro, passed away Friday evening, July 23, 2021 at her residence under the care of Amedisys Hospice.
Born June 11, 1942 in Walterboro, she was a daughter of the late Bennie Lee Smith and Gladys Crosby Smith. She was a retired bookkeeper for Novits-Siegel. She was a longtime member of Grace Advent Christian Church. She dearly loved her church, her church family and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Mrs. Evelyn centered her life around her family.
Surviving are: her husband of 60 years, James Harold Simmons of Walterboro; children, Jamie Simmons of Walterboro, Robin Simmons Fail of Walterboro, and Dee Ann Davenport (Wendell) of Ruffin; grandchildren, Christopher Simmons (Jennifer) of Ehrhardt, Brandon Simmons of St. Matthews, Leslie Davenport of Ruffin, Joseph Davenport of Ruffin and Rebecca Fail of Walterboro; her beloved caregiver, Ann Herndon; and beloved hospice nurse, Jenna Jones.
Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Thursday, July 29, 2021 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
