Evelyn Ernst

Mrs. Evelyn Platts Ernst, 68, of Brunson, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, May 19, 2018 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel.  Interment will follow in Hampton Cemetery.

Born February 12, 1950 in Ulmer, she was a daughter of the late Owen Platts and Gladys Dobson Wilson.  She was a faithful and active member of Hopewell First Baptist Church where she was a member of the church choir.  She dearly loved her church and served in any capacity that she could.  She loved crocheting and sewing, and especially loved working with her flowers and gardening.  Most of all, she loved her family and taking care of them.

Surviving are: her husband, James Arthur Ernst of Brunson; son, Paul David Ernst and his wife Valerie of North Charleston; brother, Joe Platts of Brunson; grandchildren, Gwendolyn Rae Ernst of Yulee, Florida, Dean Bowlin and his wife Cameron of North Charleston, and Hayden Steele of North Charleston; and a great grandson, Parker Dean Bowlin.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Owen “Tuggy” Platts.
