Mrs. Eve Nettles Roberts, age 85, entered into rest Sunday evening, June 7, 2015, at her home on Scuffletown Road, Ruffin while surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, June 10, 2015, from Shiloh Baptist Church, 10565 Lowcountry Highway, Ruffin. The Reverend Ricky Crosby officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard.
Born April 29, 1930, in Colleton County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence Nettles and the late Treacie Roberts Nettles. She was a seamstress having retired from Smoaks Manufacturing and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where in earlier years she taught Sunday School. She was a talented seamstress, having made many beautiful quilts in her lifetime. She was the adopted mother to many of the young children in her community.
Surviving are: her husband of sixty-five years, Mr. Louis James Roberts; four sons, Charlie Roberts, Jerry Roberts, Tommy Roberts, and Wendell Davenport all of Ruffin; three daughters, Sandra Davenport of Jackson, Pamela Chinners of Ruffin, and Terri Hiers of Varnville; three brothers, Herman, Marshall, and Atticus; and two sisters, Lavina and Viola. There are eighteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren that also survive. She was preceded in death by a son, Terry; and a daughter, Janice.
