Eva Layden

Mrs. Eva Russell Layden, 81, of Ehrhardt, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Trident Medical Center in Charleston.  She was the widow of Sidney Thomas Layden, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, February 11, 2017 at St. John’s Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in Ehrhardt Cemetery.

The family will receive friends during a time of visitation Saturday morning from 10 until the hour of service at the church.

Born December 21, 1935 in North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Harry Russell and Ida Mae White Russell.  She was a retired nurse.  She was a faithful member of St. Johns Baptist Church.  She dearly loved her church and loved praying for everyone.  She was a hard worker, great caregiver to others, and loved football.  Most of all, she was a loving mother and grandmother who dearly loved her boys and her grandchildren.

Surviving are: her son, James Layden of Ehrhardt; daughter-in-law Teresa Ann Layden of Bamberg; grandchildren, Thomas Layden, James Layden, Jr., Seth Thomas Layden, and Tara Layden; great grandchildren, Courtney Brynn Layden, Corbin Roane Layden, Dolyn Rae Layden, Sidney Caitlin Layden, Rachel Lauren Layden, and Tristan Reece Layden; sisters, Margaret Trombley, Ivy Phillips, and Deloris Phillips, all of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Ann Russell of North Carolina; and brother and sister-in-law, James Edward and Bernice Layden of Bamberg.  She was preceded in death by her sons, Robert Edward Layden and Sidney Thomas Layden, III; and a brother, Harry Russell, Jr.
