Mrs. Eva Hughes Ferguson, 79, of Cottageville, entered into rest Sunday morning, November 30, 2014, at the White Oak Manor in North Charleston. She was the widow of Mr. Reuben Charles Ferguson.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Tuesday morning, December 2, 2014, from Maple Cane Baptist Church, 21324 Augusta Highway, Cottageville. The Reverend Dr. David Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Meeting House Cemetery, Meeting House Road, Cottageville.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 9:30 that morning in the church sanctuary.
Born February 7, 1935, a native of Colleton County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Pierce Hughes and the late Sarah Ann Hoff Hughes. She was a retired seamstress. She was a dedicated member of Maple Cane Baptist Church where she was active in many aspects of the churchs work to include being particularly devoted to the churchs Meals-on-Wheels program and her Sunday School Class. An icon within her beloved community, she will always be remembered for her always caring nature as well as the love she had for her chickens, birds, flowers, and yard.
Surviving are: six children, Charlotte F. Brinson (Dean) of Moncks Corner, Sarah F. Judy (Dennis) of Branchville, Joanna Ferguson (Allen) of Ridgeville, Wanda F. Smoak (Chuck) of Pooler, Georgia, Phil Ferguson (Keri) of Cottageville, and Dee Dee Ferguson of Cottageville; and three sisters, Dorothy Ferguson (Ralph) of Cottageville, Virginia Reeves of Cottageville, and Gladys Carter of Ridgeville. There are sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren that also survive.
