Eugene Erwin Carlson

Eugene "Gene" Erwin Carlson, age 73, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at his current residence The Veterans' Victory House in Walterboro, SC.

Born August 31, 1953 Gene was born in Poughkeepsie, NY to Richard and Patricia Bouyea Carlson. He graduated from Pawling High School in 1972 and joined the U.S. Army in 1972-1975. His first job when he returned to the United States was with Kimberly Clark. Gene then went on to get his CDL License and worked for Supreme Bark Mulch in Southington, CT. Upon retirement in November of 2017, Gene joined his brother Richard and sister-in-law Michele to live close by in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Gene is predeceased by his beloved mother Patricia Bouyea Carlson who was tragically killed in a train accident on Corbin Road, Pawling, NY in January,1958, father Richard Nils and stepmother Helen Arno Carlson.

He is survived by Terese "Terry" Carlson Utter (Samuel), Sandra "Sandy" Carlson Foulks (David), Richard Carlson (Michele), Lisa Carlson Gajdos (Michael), Sean Carlson (Gillian), Eric Carlson, and many nieces and nephews.

Gene's hobbies were deep sea fishing, working on Volkswagens, and tinkering on computers.

There will be no services as Gene's wishes were to be buried at sea.
