Ethel Risher Hiott

April 13, 1927 — December 6, 2015

Mrs. Ethel Risher Hiott, age 88, of Walterboro, entered into rest Sunday evening, December 6, 2015, at Hospice of Charleston in Mount Pleasant.  She was the loving wife of sixty years to the late Mr. Austin Beach Hiott.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, December 9, 2015, from the graveside in Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro.

Born April 13, 1927, in Colleton County, South Carolina, she was one of fourteen children of the late Ira and Donnie Ella Langdale Risher.  She worked faithfully for thirty-two years as a seamstress at the former Walterboro Dress Plant.  Her talent with needle work continued on after her retirement as a hobby with the beautiful crochet work she made.  She was a lifelong member of Evergreen Christian Church in Walterboro.  She will always be remembered for the love she had for working in her yards, the passion she had for her flowers, and her joy in cooking and canning.

Surviving are: two brothers, Jimmy Risher and Ladson Risher both of Walterboro; and a sister, Ida Mae Crosby of Walterboro.  There are numerous nieces and nephews that also survive to include a special niece and caregiver, Lynn Griffin Bryan.

Family and friends are invited to call during her visitation from 6 o’clock until 8 o’clock this Tuesday evening at  THE BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOMES AND CREMATORY, WALTERBORO CHAPEL, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro, 843.538.5408.  Visit the registry online at: www.briceherndonfuneralhome.com.
