Mrs. Ethel Taylor Walling Fennell, 97, of Islandton, entered into rest Friday evening, February 20, 2015, at her home after an extended illness. She was the widow of Mr. Joe Walling and Mr. Dan Fennell.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Tuesday morning, February 24, 2015, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery, 37 Forks Road, Islandton.
Mrs. Fennel was born October 7, 1917, in Colleton County, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Tillman Taylor and the late Anna Utsey Taylor. She was a longtime member of Peniel Baptist Church in Islandton where she formerly served as the adult Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Community Chapter No. 206, Order of the Eastern Star in Islandton. She will be fondly remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends.
Surviving are a daughter, Martha Walling Dowler of Ashton; five grandchildren, Judith Dowler Bailey of Ashton, Donna Stanley White (Wes) of Hendersonville, Freddie Stanley (Connie) of Islandton, Ronnie Stanley (Diane) of Hampton, and Kevin Stanfield of Beaufort; ten great grandchildren, Leslie Bailey, Taylor Bailey, Leah Stanley, Lydia Stanley, Caroline Stanfield, Bryson Stanfield, Jessica Stanley, Jason Stanley, Lauren Stanley Youmans (Heath), and Jeremy White; and a sister, Mary Crosby of Moncks Corner. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Walling Stanfield; a granddaughter, Sherri Dowler; a grandson, Corey Dowler; two sisters, Eula Peters and Maude Martin; and a brother, Dan Cecil Taylor.
