Esther was the daughter of the late Fredrick Nelson Schingler and the late Florence Elizabeth Prosser Schingler. She was born June 9, 1939 in Hamilton, N.Y. She was united in marriage to Alton E. O'Herien on May 24, 1958.

She devoted her life to her family. She loved to crochet, she made afghans for each of her children and several of her grandchildren. She loved to pick berries of all kinds and make jams and desserts with them. She was especially proud that she was able to return to school and earn her diploma in 1981 after having left school in the eighth grade.
She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She loved her spiritual brothers and sisters and always greeted them with a kiss.
