Erlene Stokes

Mrs. Erlene Crosby Stokes, 86, of Cottageville, entered into rest Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Oakbrook Health and Rehabilitation in Summerville.  She was the wife of 55 years to the late Emmett Cleveland Stokes, Sr.

Born July 6, 1934 in Colleton County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Malachi Crosby and Mary Keturah Sutcliff Crosby.  She loved hunting and fishing; and especially enjoyed working in her garden and with her flowers.

Surviving are: her children, Emmett C. Stokes, Jr. of Cottageville, Linda Ann Stokes Gruber of Cottageville and Janet Stokes Gruber of Round O; 4 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters.

Graveside funeral services will be held 3 o’clock, Saturday afternoon, September 19, 2020 at Meeting House Cemetery, Meeting House Road, Cottageville.
