Emma Youmans

Mrs. Emma Odessa Hiers Youmans, 80, of Yemassee, entered into her state of eternal rest Thursday morning, December 2, 2010, at the Heritage Healthcare of Walterboro. She was the wife of the late Thomas Melvin T.M. Youmans.



Funeral services will be conducted 3:30pm Sunday afternoon, December 5, 2010, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.



Mrs. Youmans was born June 25, 1930, in Bamberg and was a daughter of the late Sammie and Carrie Brown Hiers. She was a retired book keeper from Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store in Walterboro and was a member of Welch Creek Baptist Church in Walterboro, having been active before failing health. She will be fondly remembered for her love of gardening, doing crafts, crocheting, and softball.



Surviving are: two sons, Tommy Youmans and his wife Joan of Gadson, Alabama and Larry Youmans and his wife Phyllis of Smoaks; three daughters, Jan Thomas and her husband Steve of Yemassee, Dianne Litchfield and her husband Edwin of Walterboro, and Connie Droney and her husband John of Round O; a brother, Lester Hiers of Maggie Valley, North Carolina; and a sister, Betty Corbett of Ridgeland. There are fourteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren that also survive. She was preceded in death by a son, Rusty Youmans.
