Eloise Mcclure

August 24, 1936 — November 26, 2024

Walterboro, South Carolina

Mrs. Eloise Hiers McClure, 88, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Tuesday afternoon, November 26, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  She was the wife of the late George Graham McClure to whom she was married 66 years.

Born August 24, 1936, in Colleton County, she was a daughter of the late Andrew M. Hiers and Gladys Colson Hiers.  She was a lifelong member of Evergreen Christian Church where she served as Sunday School Secretary for over 50 years and was a member and past Treasurer of the Christian Women’s Fellowship.  She was a pillar of the church, always helping wherever needed.  Eloise was the silent force behind George McClure.  The only time she moved away from Walterboro was when George was fulfilling his military assignments.  In 1956, they moved back to Walterboro and opened the Shell Station along with the wrecker service.  In the 1970’s, they closed the station because of the gas shortage and moved the wrecker service to its current location, behind their house on the land her father gave to them.  To know Eloise McClure was to love her.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.  She loved her family, her church, and her community

Surviving are: her children, Sherri McClure and Mark of Walterboro, William Andrew “Andy” McClure and Reagan of Walterboro, and Sandy McClure Carroll and her husband Tommy of Walterboro; daughter-in-law, Rhonda McClure of St. George; seven grandchildren, Dean McDonald and his wife Amy, Bryan McDonald, Nichole Stanfield and her husband Wesley, Justin McClure and his wife Audrey, Brandon McClure and his wife Callie, Cody Carroll and Brittany, and Taylor Carroll; twelve great grandchildren, Jordan McDonald, Tyler Carter, Kaneon McDonald, Cole Stanfield, Morgan Stanfield, Kourtney McDonald, Emery McClure, Ella McClure, Calder McClure, Sullivan McClure, Mason McDonald, and Davina McDonald as well as six great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, George Robert “Robbie” McClure; brother, Andrew “Bubba” Hiers; and sister, Helen Hiers Butler.

The family would like to thank the staff of Agape Hospice; Colleton Medical Center; two special nieces, Connie Hiers and Debbie Breland; and a special caregiver, Carolyn Shider, for the wonderful care and love they have given Mrs. Eloise during her illness.

Flowers will be accepted, or for those that desire, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to:  Evergreen Christian Church, Post Office Box 1686, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
