Mrs. Ellen Hughes Folk, 92, of Ehrhardt, entered into rest Monday evening, September 20, 2021 at Colleton Medical Center.  She was the wife of the late William Perzie Folk, Sr.

Born October 29, 1928 in Bamberg county, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Hughes and Nannie Rice Ray Hughes.  She was a retired Postmaster from the Ehrhardt Post Office where she worked for over 20 years.  She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness-Denmark Congregation, where she dedicated her life on January 1, 1995.  Mrs. Ellen was a true southern lady.  She loved working in her yard, cooking for her family and friends, canning vegetables and talking on the phone with her friends.  She also enjoyed word search puzzles, riding her golf cart and going to tea parties with the Red Hat Society.  She enjoyed watching hummingbirds and most of all spending time with her family and her cat, “Smut”.

Surviving are: her children, Dianne Folk Mock and her husband Ronald of Ehrhardt, William Perzie Folk, Jr. and his wife Gloria of Ehrhardt, and Richard Byron “Ricky” Folk and his wife Kim of Bamberg; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Gerald Folk; and 8 brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to: M.A.M.A.S. (Mary Ann Morris Animal Society), 254 Slow Pitch Road, Bamberg, South Carolina 29003.

A graveside service will be held 11 o’clock, Friday morning, September 24, 2021 at Ehrhardt Cemetery.
