Born January 28, 1952, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, she was a daughter of Mr. Ben F. Gibson and the late Mrs. Burnadette Montgomery Gibson who had an inspiring marriage of sixty-one years at the time of Mrs. Gibson's death in 2008. Reared by her parents in Birmingham, she lived in the same home where her father still resides today since she was a child. Ellen received infant Baptism on her parent's anniversary, May 18, 1952, in South Highland Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, where she later received her confirmation in 1964. Growing up in a small neighborhood of Birmingham, Ellen still cherished many of the childhood friends she developed and attended school with for twelve years. Over the course of her enjoyable life, she resided in Virginia, Florida, and eventually Charleston and everywhere she went, she left her mark as a true lady through her involvement in community and civic projects. A loving and devoted mother who immensely enjoyed being a stay at home mom for ten years, she was always active in the PTA and classrooms of each school her girls attended. While in Florida, she worked as a lay-out artist for a printing company and then in Charleston worked for a lawn care company where she started as an office manager prior to adding the position of landscape designer to her duties with the company in which she was with for sixteen years. In 1994, she met Jimmy Dean Brown, and after almost five years of courtship married him on November 28, 1998 in a beautiful ceremony at Carter's Ford Baptist Church. Since that time they have enjoyed their life in both Lodge and Summerton on Lake Marion. Since living primarily in Summerton, she has been a Jostens representative, selling and servicing their products though Rhodes Graduation Service. A job she truly loved which afforded her many wonderful friendships.
