Biography

Mrs. Elizabeth Rogers Durden, 87, of Walterboro, entered into rest Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at the home of her son, George, under the care of Hospice of South Carolina. She was the widow of the late Claude Zeigler and the late Clyde C. Durden.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 o'clock, Friday afternoon, February 28, 2014, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro.

Born August 23, 1926 in Walterboro and was a daughter of the late George Rogers and Nether Drawdy Rogers Westbury Bishop. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Walterboro. She enjoyed spending her pastime reading, wallpapering and painting.

Surviving are: her son, George Durden and his partner, Darren Sarine of Walterboro; daughter-in-law, Sylvia Durden of Lexington; "her adopted daughter," Karen Finley of Walterboro; step daughter, Ann Hutchinson of Washington; step sons, Roy Zeigler of Tennessee and Dawson Zeigler of Florida; grandchildren, Luanne, Lisa, Scott, Wendy and Rhonda; 13 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Steve Durden; and a brother, Robert Rogers.
