Eli Mixson, Jr

Mr. Eli Mixson, Jr., 81, of Bamberg Highway, Hampton, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Hampton Regional Medical Center.



Funeral services will be held 3 pm, Saturday, April 10, 2010 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel. Interment will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery.



Mr. Mixson was born October 22, 1928 in Jacksonville, Florida and was a son of the late Eli Mixson and Nettie Mae Stanley Mixson. He was a retired farmer and member of Faith Baptist Church in Estill. Mr. Mixson was a Christian man, who loved his family dearly and anyone who knew him, knew that he was someone that you could always count on and someone that never liked to see a job undone. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, daddy and friend.



Surviving are: his wife of sixty years, Margaret Mixson Mixson; children, Joan Rushing (Gene) of Estill, Harrison Mixson (Lynn) of Varnville, Douglas Mixson (Ruth) of Ashton, Janet Mixon (William) of Grays, Karen Yeisley (Walter) of Grays, Gregory Mixson of Hampton and Kent Mixson of Hampton; sister, Johnnie Smith (William) of Grays; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters.
