Eldridge William Buckman

Mr. Eldridge William Buckman, 88, of Bluffton, passed away at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, January 18, 2021.  He was married to the late Mrs. Ethel May Buckman.

Born April 22, 1932, in Baltimore Maryland, he was a son to the late Mr. William George Buckman. and the late Mrs. Frances Anna Vacek Buckman.  A simple man, Mr. Eldridge worked and retired as a Mechanical Engineer and was a Veteran of the United States Army.  In his younger days he had a knack for working on automobiles and kept up with his hobbies of boating and fishing.  He was an avid NASCAR fan, pulling for #8; Dale Earnhart, Sr and #3; Dale Earnhart, Jr.  In spare time he would enjoy playing Bingo on his trips to the casinos in Arizona.  He had a known interest in television, often watching; “The Price is Right”, “Lets Make a Deal” and the various Judge trial T.V. shows.  He would also enjoy his vodka and orange every evening.

He is survived by: his daughters; Sharon Goldstein (George Morera Jorge) of Bluffton, Martha Denise Bressler of Maryland and Tracie Y. Dabkowski (Glenn) of Maryland; a son, William Eldridge Buckman (Janet) of West Virginia; a step-son, Ralph C. Zachry of Maryland; brothers, Richard Buckman and Edward Buckman, both of Maryland; sisters, Mary Centineo of Maryland, Nancy Davis of Maryland, Florence Gardner of Georgia and Frances Miller of California.  He also leaves behind, eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by: a step-son, Robert E. Zachry; a brother, William “Willie” Buckman, Jr.; and sisters, Effie Faucette and Joyce Whelland.

A private memorial service for Mr. Buckman will be held at a later date.
