Sergeant Edward Albert Carter, Sr., (United States Marine Corp Ret.) affectionately known by all as Eddie, age 79, of 994 Burlington Road, Walterboro, died Thursday afternoon, March 19, 2009, at Heritage Health Care in Walterboro.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Tuesday afternoon, March 24, 2009, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment with full military honors provided by the United States Marine Corp will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
Sergeant Carter was born October 29, 1929, in Colleton County and was a son of the late Ned Lloyd and the late Minnie Lee Carter Wynn. He served his country faithfully in the United States Marine Corps where he retired with the rank of Sergeant. During his tenure with the military he saw action in the Korean Conflict. After his retirement from the military, he worked for the Walterboro City Police Department where he retired as a Sergeant.
He was a lifelong member of Evergreen Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Walterboro and was also a member of the American Legion. In his earlier years, Eddie enjoyed fishing the local creeks of Colleton County and will be remembered by all for the love and devotion he possessed for the Marine Corp and the Police Department.
Surviving are: his wife of thirty-four years, Mrs. Margaret Beylotte Carter; two sons, Edward A. Carter, Jr. and John Victor Carter both of Walterboro; and two step-sons, Michael Beylotte of Scranton and Donald Breaker of Walterboro. There are four grandchildren, Montana Lee Carter, Diego V. Carter, Deirnaria Carter, and Taylor DuBoise, as well as, Jessica Kincaid, Alexis Kincaid, Shelby Kincaid.
