Mr. Edward Lawrence Linder, 73, of Coolers Dairy Road, died Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Heritage Healthcare of Walterboro.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Monday, November 22, 2010, at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery.
Mr. Linder was born September 16, 1937 in Colleton County and was the son of the late Theodore and Edith Crosby Linder. He was a graduate of Walterboro High School, Class of 1957. Mr. Linder served his country faithfully in the United State Air Force, having retired in 1977. After his service in the Air Force, he began working for White House Plantation in Green Pond and retired as manager. Ed was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Walterboro Lodge #1988, where he served as an officer and was the Exalted Ruler for 4 years. He was a past District Deputy to the Grand Exalted Ruler and SC Elks State President in 2003. He was active in many Elks programs including Drug Awareness, Hoop Shoot, Deer Hide and the Veterans program. He was an avid hunter and fisherman from a young age, when he began going with his father.
Surviving are: his wife of 34 years, Theresa Mattson Linder of Walterboro; children, Ted Linder of Nashville, TN, Greg Linder of Walterboro and Vicki Linder Cottrell (Ed) of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Brandon Linder (Nikki) and Richard Linder of Pensacola, FL, Jessica De La Via (Angel) of New Orleans, LA, and Cash Cottrell and Jacob Cottrell of Lakeland, FL; and great grandchildren, Willow and Silas Linder.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Veterans Victory House, Colleton Medical Center ICU and Heritage Healthcare of Walterboro for the care they gave Mr. Linder during his illness.
