Mr. Edward Harmon Iriel, 68, of 1705 Sunny Side Drive, Cayce, entered into his state of eternal rest Sunday morning, February 21, 2010, at the Lexington Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Wednesday afternoon, February 24, 2010, from Shiloh Baptist Church, 10565 Lowcountry Highway, Ruffin. Interment will follow in the churchyard.
Mr. Iriel was born August 6, 1941, in Colleton County and was a son of the late Ludlow Frasier Iriel and the late Eunice Nettle Iriel. He served his country faithfully in the South Carolina National Guard and was a retired estimator with Stanick Sheet Metal and Roofing Company. He was an avid Sports fan, always admiring the South Carolina Game Cocks and the NASCAR Motor Sports Racing; as well as he possessed an avid love for working in his yards.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Vyria Sue Owens Iriel; a son, Todd Iriel and his wife April of Gaston; a step-son, Jimmy Whitaker and his wife Diane of Abeline, Texas; two step-daughters, Lesley Thames and her husband Troy of Cayce and Patti Bishop and her husband Harvey of South Bend, Indiana; grandchildren; Michael Iriel and Emily Iriel of South Bend, Indiana and Christina Rock of Columbia; and two great grandchildren. There are three sisters, Frances Friendly Harley of Walterboro, Zelma I. Webster of Walterboro, and Linda Fay Conroy of Carrolton, Virginia; a brother, Ricky L. Iriel of Walterboro; his lifelong friend, Sam Filyaw of Charleston; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Edward H. Iriel, Jr.; a granddaughter, Renee Boo Iriel; and two brothers, Sam L. Iriel and J.C. Iriel.
