HAMPTON- Mrs. Edna Chassereau Stanley, 84, of 826 Third Street NE, Hampton, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Unihealth Post Acute Care of the Lowcountry. She was the widow of Junior Hasting Stanley.
Funeral services will be held 11 am, Saturday, April 11, 2009 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel. Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.
Mrs. Stanley was born August 14, 1924 in Hampton, SC and was a daughter of the late Harry Benjamin Chassereau and Janette Sinclair Chassereau. She was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School, Class of 1941 with Salutatory Honors. Mrs. Stanley was a former employee of Plywood Plastics, worked in Civilian service with U.S. Air Force in Charleston, worked with the U.S. Post Office from 1955-1959 and retired as an administrative Assistant from the Hampton County Courthouse, where she worked in many offices. She was a member of West End Baptist Church.
Surviving are: her son, Scott Stanley of Hampton; and grandchildren, Gregory Scott DeLoach, Michael Brandon DeLoach, Stephen Sinclair Stanley and Nathaniel Chassereau Stanley. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel McMillan; and a brother, Horace Chassereau.
