Edna Simmons

WALTERBORO- Mrs. Edna Reed Simmons, 72, of 335 Waverly Road, Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Thursday, April 9, 2009 at her residence.



Funeral services will be held 3 pm, Sunday, April 12, 2009 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery.



Mrs. Simmons was born December 28, 1936 in Cosby, SC and was the daughter of James Joseph Reed and Myrtle Stephens Reed. She was a retired sales clerk with Novit-Siegel in Walterboro and was a member of North Walterboro Baptist Church. Mrs. Edna was a friend to everyone and a second mother to many. She will be sadly missed for her outgoing personality and loving ways.



Surviving are: her husband of 52 years, James M. Jimmy Simmons; children, James M. Butch Simmons, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Round O, Tamela Tammy Kizer and her husband Andy of Edisto Island and Katheryn Alison Simmons of Walterboro; grandchildren, Celeste Mixson and her husband Wade of Ruffin and Kimberly Simmons of Round O; great grandson, Randall Wade Tres Mixson, III; brothers, James J. Reed, Jr. and his wife Sandy of Summerville and Michael Mickey Reed and his wife Edith Ann of Ridgeland; and sisters, Ruth Shine Gurganious and her husband Bud of Beaufort and Peggy Kolb and her husband Tim of Augusta, GA. She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Rourk.
