Mrs. Edna Frances Parks, 66, of Augusta Highway, Cottageville, entered into rest Monday morning, December 9, 2013, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.
Funeral services will be conducted 6 oclock Thursday evening, December 12, 2013 from Maple Cane Baptist Church, 21324 Augusta Highway, Cottageville. The Reverend Dr. David Anderson officiating. Interment will follow 10 oclock Friday morning at Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 4:30 that afternoon in the Sanctuary of Maple Cane Baptist Church
Born April 5, 1947, a native of Greensboro, North Carolina she was a daughter of the late James W. Lanning and the late Bedie McDonald Lanning. She was a faithful member of Maple Cane Baptist Church where she was active in many aspects of the churchs work and was a member of the Women of Faith group. Edna was loved the NJROTC program at Colleton County High School in Walterboro where she served as the vice-president of the Booster Club. She will be fondly remembered for her love of gardening, bowling, and playing cards.
Surviving are: her husband, Mr. Charles L. Parks, Sr.; three sons, Charles L. Parks, Jr. of Cottageville, Archie Michael Parks of Portsmouth, Virginia, and James David Parks of Jacksonville, Florida; two daughters, Bedie Annette Frazier of Lakeland, Florida and Lilly Charlene Parks of Cottageville; and a brother, James W. Lanning, Jr. of Douglasville, Georgia. There are fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren that also survive. She was preceded in death by a grandson.
