Edna Nettles Benton

Mrs. Edna Nettles Benton, 92, of the Shiloh Community near Ruffin, entered into rest Wednesday evening, February 28, 2018, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.  She was the wife of the late Mr. Clifton Frank Benton.

Mrs. Benton was born December 8, 1925 in Colleton County, South Carolina.  A devoted wife and mother, she lived a life of virtue and knew the importance of a strong work ethic which she demonstrated and installed into her family.  She assumed the many roles of a loving wife and mother,  and will always be remembered for the many attributes that established her life.   She at times, alongside her husband was a farmer and for many years was a seamstress.

She was preceded in death by her two sons, Tommie Benton and Wendy Benton.  She is survived by her grandchildren, Trent Benton, Opal Benton, Brooke Goodwin, Stacey Turner, Kevin Benton, Alexis Jones, and Trent Jones; her great grandchildren, Cody Goodwin, Caleb Jones, Cameron Jones, Dylan Mixon, Banks Benton, River Peters, Breanna Jones, Jadah Searson, Cairah Searson, Justin Searson, William Benton, and Samuel Benton; a great great grandchild, Adalyn Jones; and a daughter-in-law, Debbie Benton.   She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Nell Colson Benton.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon, March 3, 2018, from Shiloh Baptist Church, 10565 Lowcountry Highway, Ruffin.  Interment will follow in the churchyard.

The family will receive friends during a time of visitation prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 2 o’clock in the church sanctuary.
