Biography

Mrs. Edith Mae Smith Lyons, affectionately known by many as "Edie", age 75, of 518 Abbey Lane, Cottageville, entered into her state of eternal rest Sunday morning, April 17, 2011, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

Mrs. Lyons was born May 14, 1935 in Canastota, New York, and was a daughter of the late Wesley Smith and the late Charlotte Relyea Smith. She was a retired caregiver with the Child Development Center of the Charleston Air Force Base and was a member of My Father's House Church in Cottageville.

Surviving are: two daughters, Dawn Marie Cornatzer and her husband Harry of Cottageville and Linda Mae Rosas and her husband Lupe of Bossier City, Louisiana; a brother, James Smith of Florida; and two sisters, Evelyn Maurer and Marguerite Rogers, both of New York. There are six grandchildren, Justin Runyon, Matthew Runyon, Ashley Cornatzer, Megan Cornatzer, Johnathon Cornatzer, and Christian Barnes.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, April 20, 2011, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Entombment will follow in Plantation Memorial Gardens, 3345 South Live Oak Street, Moncks Corner.
