Mrs. Edith Carrol Cook Crapse, 86, of Varnville, entered into eternal rest Wednesday morning, May 20, 2026, at her residence after an extended illness. She was surrounded by her family that she loved so much.
Mrs. Edith was born November 3, 1939 in Hampton County, she was a daughter of the late Frank Cook and Tiny Sula Wiggins Cook. She was a retired seamstress having worked at Allendale Sewing Factory and Gemco Shoe Company. She loved her family. She was a faithful member of Huggin Oak Church of God and dearly loved her Lord and her church family. She always shared a word about her Lord and Savior to anyone she had met. She was a loving wife. She enjoyed working with her flowers, watching the birds, sewing, and canning vegetables. She had a talented voice. She cherished her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren,
Surviving are: her husband of 70 years, Thomas Wilbur Crapse, Sr. of Varnville; children, Yvonne Carrol DeLoach of Luray, Thomas Wilbur Crapse, Jr. and his wife Penny of Cummings, Cheryl Lynn Youmans and her husband Larry of Brunson, and Nancy Brenner and her husband Joseph of Varnville; brother, Douglas Roy Cook of Varnville; sister, Betty Smoak of Varnville; grandchildren, Ray Avant, Shannon Parker, Denise Trotter, Jason Howell Crapse, Julie Brunson, Jessica Carson, Miranda Carroll, Michelle Aiken, Tiffany Rodriguez, and Savana Gill; 35 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren with one on the way. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Wendell DeLoach; and her siblings, James Cook, Benny Cook, Jaylee Cook, and her baby sister Evelyn Cook.
The family and husband would like to thank Crescent Hospice for the dedication and the tireless efforts in supporting Mrs. Edith. We would like to thank Cortney, Mandy and Shanna for their professional and the tender care provided.

Funeral services will be held 4 o'clock, Saturday afternoon, May 23, 2026, at Huggin Oak Church of God, 6586 Yemassee Highway, Varnville. A private interment will be held on the family property.
