Eddie Driggers

March 27, 1959 — December 6, 2022

Round O, South Carolina

Mr. Edgar Eugene Driggers, age 63, of Round O, departed this life to begin his final deployment Tuesday afternoon, December 6, 2022 to Heaven.

Born March 27, 1959, in Colleton County, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Alton Norman Driggers and the late Betty Jean Dantzler Driggers.   He served faithfully in the United States Army and retired from the South Carolina Army National Guard as a Sergeant First Class.  During his time in the Army and the National Guard, he served in many capacities including a tour in Afghanistan as a truck master for the 116th.  He also received many medals and awards including Army Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with 30 Year Device, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and many more.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he was an active part of the Walterboro Branch serving as the Choir Leader, home teacher, and served wherever he felt his calling.

Eddie loved his country and his fellow soldier, helping people, and the outdoors.  He enjoyed square-dancing, clogging, going to the beach, watching movies, traveling to the mountains, and sweets.      He took great pride in the farm life and riding his palomino horse, “Smudge Puppy”.  He dearly loved his F250 pickup truck and was truly a country boy at heart.

Surviving are: his son, Alton Walt Driggers of Round O; a brother, Robert Alton Driggers (Sherry) of Round O; a sister, Nancy Driggers Lyons (Roy Sparks, Jr.) of Round O; an aunt, Linda LeMaster (Harley) of Florence; four nieces and one nephew, Erin Driggers, Amber Driggers Gantt, Calli Driggers, and Richard Lyons; and a host of cousins.

They family would like to extend their gratitude to Amedisys Hospice and a special thanks to his nurse, Laura Manigo.
