Douglas Smith

Mr. Douglas MacArthur Smith, Jr., 58, of Springfield, Georgia, passed away June 7, 2021 at his home.  He was the husband of the late Kathy Smith.

Born April 3, 1963 in Beaufort, he was a son of the late Douglas MacArthur Smith, Sr. and Mary Alene “Marlene” Thames Smith.  He was one of the sweetest people you could ever know, who was hardworking and determined.  He never gave up on anyone or anything.  He was always caring and generous.  He loved his family dearly and was the “Light of the family”.

Surviving are: his sister, Katie Carr of Anderson; brother, Kelvin Smith of Columbia; uncle, Ray Thames of Varnville; niece, Victoria Carr of Varnville; nephews, David Breland of Walterboro, Kristopher Carr of Anderson, and Curtus Dubose of Florence; and great nephews, Carter Roth and Ezra Roth

A memorial service will be held 4 o'clock, Friday afternoon, June 25, 2021 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel.  The family will receive friends following the service.
