Mr. Douglas McCarthy Morrison, affectionately known by all as "Doug", age 52, of Cannon Road, Round O, entered into rest Friday evening, September 20, 2013, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.
Funeral services will be conducted 5 o'clock Friday afternoon, September 27, 2013, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend James Pedigo officiating. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
Born June 13, 1961, a son of Mrs. Lois Sewell DeCuir and the late Boyd Morrison; he was a native of Arkadelphia, Arkansas having made South Carolina his home for the past twenty years. He was a member of Faith Crossing Baptist Church in Walterboro. Doug loved softball, and because of that love taught numerous people throughout the lowcoutnry the skill of the game and will fondly be remembered as a beloved coach for Colleton County Parks and Recreation, Travel Ball Leagues, and with the Colleton County High School.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Goose Creek are: his wife, Mrs. Laura Jean Putman; three daughters, Horizan Laraine Morrison, Savannah Dawn Morrison, and Misty Marie Morrison all of Round O; and three sons, Douglas Shane Morrison of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Jeremy Boyd Morrison of South Dakota, and Specialist Bryan Lee Putman who is currently stationed in Afghanistan; two brothers, Gregory Allen Morrison of Ridgeville and James Anthony DeCuir of Moncks Corner; and a sister, Sherri Ann DeCuir Lawson and her husband David of Ridgeville; as well as two grandchildren, Braxton Atreyou Morrison, Luscious Shy Morrison and one who is expected in December. He was preceded in death by a sister, Paula Renea Morrison; and his step-father, Mr. James T. DeCuir.
