Mrs. Dortha Tubbs Miner Lightsey, 86, of East Oak Street, Hampton, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Hampton Regional Medical Center. She was the widow of Thomas Albert Tommy Lightsey.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11 am, Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Bowers Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
Mrs. Lightsey was born September 23, 1924 in Mapleview, New York and was a daughter of the late Ambie Tubbs and Augusta Celia Drake Tubbs. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Ridgeland and retired from Hampton Motor Sales. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting; but will be remembered most as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Surviving are: her children, Elizabeth DeLoache and her husband Rav of Ridgeland, Thomas Miner and his wife Gilda of Hampton, William Miner and his wife Wanda of Navarre, Florida and Roberta Peet of Ridgeland; brother, Arnold Tubbs and his wife Mary of Varnville, foster sister, Stephanie Martin and her husband David of Mexico, New York; foster brothers, John Sabrey and his wife Elaine of Pulaski, New York and Thomas Sabrey of North Carolina; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, John Gerald Lightsey, Sr. and his wife Irene of Columbia, Betty Jane Jeffcoat and her husband Skeeter of Hampton, Herman Burns Lightsey, Jr. and his wife Mary of Irmo and Cleveland Ridgeway of Manning; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Rae.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.
