Mrs. Dorothy Benton Willis, 95, of Cottageville, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Roper Hospital. She was the widow of George Morgan Willis.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 am, Friday, March 19, 2010, at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro with Reverend Jesse Jerkins, Reverend Alfred Willis and Reverend Buck Reeves officiating. Interment will follow in Cottageville Cemetery.
Mrs. Willis was born September 17, 1914 in Jacksonboro, a daughter of Jake and Mamie Savage Benton and was raised by John and Mary Garvin. She was a retired seamstress from Manhattan Shirt Company and was a member of Cottageville Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing and fishing, but especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are: her daughters, Kaye W. Hull of Cottageville and Rosemary (Louis) Melendez of Charleston; grandchildren, Kathy (Paul) Staton, Donald Hull, Vincent (Grace) Melendez, Mark (Rosalind) Melendez and Michelle (Clint) Howington; and great grandchildren, Ginger Melendez, Morgan Melendez, Dominick Howington and Michael Staton. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Bob Hull; and brothers, Berry Savage and Willie A. West.
